Will H. writes "This structure in on Route 26 at the top of "Denmark Hill" at the Northern edge of the hamlet of Denmark. This is in Lewis County NY."
Jack S. writes "My mother was born here in 1903. Her father was a tenant farmer here at the time."
On 3/31/14 Squirrel writes "I have been in that house. A lot was left behind. Seems like whoever was living there left fast. I was with a few friends at the time, one who in no way shape or form believed in ghosts... I went into the attic with a friend, and when she and I came back down, my friend was white as a sheet saying that the person who came down first was not her.... He saw a completely different person."

Long abandoned house, Watertown, corner of Sherman and Stone Streets, a sign in front says "Watertown Music Center".  If you look real closely you can see a huge picture window in the front.  This location suggested by 'Kate'; she writes "No one has lived in it in years...but someone mows the tiny patch of lawn on occasion!"
Webmaster update 12/12/2010 The house is being stripped and remodeled at this time.

Comments from visitors:
Kate writes "I'm getting a bit nervous about this building....this past week someone parked an excavator and a contractor's trailer next to it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they're just going to tear down the ugly building next door! Apparently Neighbors of Watertown owns the house. From what I had heard awhile ago, they were going to tear down the old Social Security building next door to the house and build apartment buildings. My guess would be that this house would be torn down too, probably made into a parking lot. What a shame."
James H. comments "This was the home of the Collins family for years. I remember from my days at St. Patrick's Parochial School. Mr. Collins was a musician and instructor; he had a music store in the house and as I recall he sold pianos etc. A fine family and one of the many memories of Watertown! I had no idea this was empty for so long."
Scannerman writes "The house will be removed (I got pics of it 4/23/11), and NOW will renovate the former SS building into a homeless shelter of sorts."
On 05/05/12 Mikki writes "I grew up down the road from there... I remember when it was open!! The building was torn down and is in process of being rebuilt."

Rouses Point, Clinton County.  Charles B. writes that you can enter this quaint little village from a couple of spots and unfortunately this is one of them. Alex's Laundromat blocks a beautiful view of Lake Champlain and has been unused as long as Charles can remember. Charles also created the amusing comparison with the famous Alamo, shown below.

On 10/7/12 Paddler wrote "I drove by this building in Rouses Point last week, it certainly has a lot of character. There is a historic marker that indicates it may be a building used for a ferry in the 1800's.

Bernadette writes - "This house is beautiful. I live in St. Law. Cty. near Route 11. I have never noticed it before."
On 06/18/12 Tracie writes "I believe this is Route 11B between Malone and Potsdam. It looks like the bed and breakfast my family stayed in when I graduated from St. Lawrence University 20 years ago. It was quite beautiful and well kept then (1992). For my 20th reunion 2 weeks ago (May/June, 2012) I drove by it. It looks very run down, much like this picture. However, it did appear that people were living there."
On 1/2714 Mary writes "This is on Rt. 11B. I traveled it when attending SUNY Plattsburgh 40 years ago. Even though abandoned, the house looks more well cared for than I've ever seen it, even though lived in at the time. I love 11B, from Potsdam to Malone, just to look at the old buildings I remember from my days of driving by myself to and from college. There are lots of them. It can be exciting and pleasant, and it can be somewhat sad and depressing."
